Introduction
I liked the look of this little coffee shop. It seemed to have personality to me, and I wanted to bring that out. I forgot to take photos along the way before I colored it, so this is all I have.

I got the photo reference from Pinterest, from Degrassi. (Lots of photos of Japan) I used Faber - Castell Pitt pens, XS and S to draw the sketch. For coloring, I used a mix of Copic markers and Promarkers, and two sizes of white Posca pens. (Larger for the sign lettering).
Giving it character
Giving it character
Although I liked the photo, it was a little flat looking with no shadows. I figured out where the sun would be in MY sketch, and added shadows to try to give it a little life and depth. I also added a few sunny highlights to emphasize the lit surfaces. I imagined this coffee shop to be a cozy place where friends meet, and tried to show that with the colors.

Teacher PlusWonderful!! You have done a really nice job of adding depth to your building. The shadows make all the difference in bringing out depth in a building. Excellent!👍🏻🍀
