I love how you've dramatically stylized the drawing! You've really created something new from the image of the bird. Your shapes feel big and dramatic, and your colors are inventive. I think this is a really fun piece-- it looks like it belongs in a gold, ornate frame.
Some people like the brush texture, but if you're looking to get it a little flatter/smoother like in the lesson, mix a little more water and work it on your palette a bit longer before applying. This will reduce the beading along the edges of your strokes. Also, you might want to apply a second coat to your areas of pure white-- white is often a little transparent, and sometimes needs some extra work to really feel bright.
Overall, a unique and thoughtful piece!
