My Easter LilyIt was a bit intimidating to jump into drawing directly with a pen. I usually work out the structure first with pencil.I found it liberating to use Lapin's direct, layered approach.Six AM. Drawing over breakfast.Finished the ink drawing. Now it's on to watercolor.Starting to watercolor. I identified blue-green vs. orange-green leaves.Watercolor only, before adding a little more intensity with colored pencils.18 x 24" painting on hot press Arches paper.Model and artworkModel posing beside painting.
What a splendid plant ! You gave it a sound perspective, natural placing of leaves and flowers, and I love your palette too.
I learned so much thanks to lapin’s teaching method ! just like you, I was intimidated when I first had to draw with fineliners without pencil... but it changed my approach and it saves time besides being liberating. 💚
