My project in Expressive Oil Portraiture: Explore the Alla Prima Technique course

I spent time sketching and considering values before painting. Procreate app is a useful tool to create palettes from photos and find complimentaries. I found doing a tracing down from my sketch and under painting in a thinned complimentary colour easier in getting a good likeness so not exactly following the method.
The high key palette used worked well and I love my new gamblin oil paints. I did find I needed to get some yellow ochre too to achieve the skin tones I wanted.
The tips about taking photos of your work and comparing them to the original photo are well worth following throughout the process.
