The story about Selkie is taken Norse and Celtic mythology. It has many variations, however the typical folk-tale is that of a man who steals a female selkie's skin, finds her naked on the sea shore, and compels her to become his wife. While creating ilustrations i was inspired by the story retold by Clarissa Picola Estes Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype. In this book she gives also her interpretation of this common story, that the man who steals selkie's skin is the ego who steals the skin of the soul.
Ps. My scanner is A4 size, so i needed to rejoin prints in to one, cause i've scanned them in pieces. So they do not look here so lovely as they are.
Ps. 2. I wanted to do a children illustration, however because of the story maybe it looks more like illustration for adults book.
Ps. 3. It's a mixed technique: watercolour, crayons and white pen.

Plus@mina_trueltzsch Thank You so much for Your kind words. It's an honour that i could move someone by my creation. Thank You for encuraging me to make a book, i will consider it now. At the begginig i had this idea of making whole book, but i gave up, feeling that i don't have enough skills.
