The Motivations
In this passion for photography I see past, present and future. It is a passion with roots, with a family in which grandparents, uncles and parents always encouraged me, taught me and guided the steps. It is a passion that counts, in the daily life and in the smallest details, with the attention and support of my wife. Above all, it is a passion that finds in my son the greatest inspiration and the right motivation to invest, in each job, the best of me.
The Path
The love for creative arts led to the admission to Soares dos Reis School, in Oporto, with the choice to focus on Art and Design. This was followed by the London College of Communication, where I completed the "Professional Photography Practice” course with distinction.
Still in London, I started working as an assistant to photographers Peter Durkes (product photography) and Nick Simpson (advertising photography). The contact with the real estate industry in Oslo increased my interest in architectural photography.
In Portugal, I was owner, manager and creative director in studios dedicated to fashion, product, interiors and advertising photography.
Nowadays, I have become a freelancer, applying my extensive knowledge in the areas of textile, furniture, hospitality, interiors and architecture with well-known brands such as Home Concept, More Contract, Arpino Design, Hotel Verride among many others, and images published by AD, Wallpaper, Frame, etc.
In parallel, I've accumulated experience as a photographer and photo editor in lifestyle and textile publications. I also dedicate myself to the training of photography and workflow.
My professional career has been accompanied by a career in author photography, having participated in several exhibitions and been awarded several prizes.
The Process
Every client is unique, every project special.
The assessment of requirements and expectations is therefore essential to have a solid starting point. After the briefing is closed, I define the work plan - at location or studio - and the necessary resources (equipment, light, production and post-production).
During the sessions I look for the best angle and formula to create the best story for the product, service, company and its actors. And the magic continues in post-production, where the selected photos receive final touch.
Natural light, focused teams and relaxed environment are 3 ingredients that I like to bring to my work in order to create striking and timeless photographs.
