Jo Morton

Practising artist. I was not allowed to go to art school by my parents but went to Teacher Training College in the 60's, when traditional practice was largely being thrown out of the window wholesale, much to my dismay. I taught young children for a number of years, but did not enjoy it, as my training was inadequate.
However, I have more recently helped dyslexic students with Reading , Spelling and Handwriting, using the Kingston Kinaesthetic method designed by Lucy Cowdery that proved extremely effective, being very structured and well thought out by an expert in the field. I thoroughly enjoyed these fruitful years, although family circumstances forced me to stop.
Part of my preparation for this specialist teaching involved adopting the essential kinaesthetic handwriting style incorporated in the method, and I have never regretted doing this, as it enables me to write fluently and at length without tiring.
Since lockdown my artistic working practice has entirely changed, like many, I suspect,
so instead I am looking at different ways of using past experience to build new directions.

I have worked on developing a Calligraphy style of my own in the past, using Italic pens and an italic style, which has often proved useful.
I often find myself needing help with lettering on artwork.
As I am interested in designing a Handwriting course of my own, I felt that perhaps this course could be useful
