Nancy M.

I am a retired bilingual teacher, married with three grown children and two granddaughters! Love them all to pieces.
I came from Cuba with my family to Chicago in 1971! Started doing ceramics with my mother and law as a hobby back when people did not have kilns of their own around 1985. She bought the leather hard pieces, decorated them with underglaze, someone fired them, she took them home to glaze, got fired again then she picked up the final product. My older son was 4 and I used to go with her on Saturdays. After a few months, I stopped. Continued to go to college, had two more kids and became a teacher. In 2008 my mother and law passed away and while emptying her house to sell, we found a box full of unfinished pieces. I saved them and two years later not only did I finish the pieces I was introduced to the pottery wheel. I loved it so much my husband bought me, as a gift, a wheel a month later. I have beed doing pottery ever since since 2018. Now I have my own studio at home, have taught a few classes and have sold some of my pieces at farmers market, art fairs and school markets.
Still love it but I'm trying to find my own style. I love Sara's pieces because they are functional, beautiful and no matter where you see her pieces you can recognize that is her work. I am looking for that, so I keep trying and learning. Looking forward to learn with her.
