Gaia Milani

I draw human figures and take photos of objects and architecture. Illustration is about what you can only imagine, while photography captures those unexpected, fragile moments of casual perfection. Collages reflect my love for paper, words, textures, and the past.

Art, for me, is how I satisfy an unshakable need to connect, understand, share, and communicate. I design, research, experiment, and create, letting chance and mistakes disrupt my plans. Every medium I use has its own vibe and language, but really, it’s the message that comes first, and then I pick the medium that fits best.

Nagajna is a collection of everything from my personal world, guided by one rule: my idea of beauty—unstable, asymmetrical, a little imperfect. Ambiguous. I like leaving room for the viewer’s imagination, where minimal and abstract images mix with hyper-detailed ones, creating a rich, layered body of work.

I choose to work on small paper pieces: intimate, daily escapes, meant to be hidden between book pages or placed on a shelf, stacking up with other memories.
