Although at first it may seem technical or even intimidating, it is actually a quite accessible system if you understand it step by step. In this guide you will find a clear and practical explanation to start using it, whether you are taking your first steps or if you want to reinforce your drawing basics. What is the perspective to a vanishing point Vanishing point perspective is a method of representation that simulates how we perceive depth in reality. It is based on the idea that parallel lines appear to converge at a single point in the distance. That point is called the vanishing point, and it lies on the horizon line, which represents the height of our eyes. From there, the lines of the drawing are organized to head towards that point, creating the illusion of space. This type of perspective is mostly used in frontal scenes: interiors, corridors, straight streets, facades or compositions where the main object is facing the front.
