Emily King

Hi there, I'm Emily and I currently run a small business from home selling handmade goods on Etsy.
Before that I was a web designer and I've been juggling my work with managing a household with two children now teenagers.
My story is very similar experience to Laura's in that I studied Art at college, though I avoided a foundation course going straight to Uni to do a degree in textiles as I'm naturally drawn to pattern and texture. I struggled to find a career in textiles after leaving Uni and found myself in the finance industry to make ends meet and pay the bills. Over the last 12 yrs or so, I have got back into painting again, doing commissions for pet portraits and selling a few paintings online, though nothing major. I often incorporate hand drawn elements into digital logo designs and graphics.
However, I really want to loosen up, free my tendency to restrain what I do creatively and be inspired by others. I love raw materials to paint, using mixed media and I desperately want to fill up all those sadly empty pages in my growing collection of sketchbooks. I also love nature for inspiration and take hundreds of photos, hoping to paint from them, but never get around to it.
I love the look of Laura's course and I can't wait to get started.
