Best known as a songwriter, Michael Dickes is also a podcaster, radio host, voice actor, film maker and writer. With nine CDs to his credit, and songs featured in film, television, and radio, he has toured heavily in the U.S. and Europe. His short stories have been published in print and on line literary journals. His voice has been featured in advertising, audiobooks, and narrations. He was the founding editor of Awkword Paper Cut, and applied his many years of experience working in radio as show host and program director to create The Awkpod, a unique storytelling podcast, as well as consulting on client projects.
Michael has conceived, filmed, edited, and produced a variety of video and audio vignettes that feature his own short stories and poems, as well as producing pieces for hire in the U.S. and Europe. Most recently, two of his short prose films were featured at the International Film Festival in Athens, Greece. His short stories have been published in Southpaw Journal, Thrice Fiction, Kerouac’s Dog Magazine, Thunderclap Press, Connotations Press, THIS Literary Magazine, Blue Fifth Review, Istanbul Literary Review, and other literary magazines and journals. Once a morning drive radio host in Washington State, his unique voice is often requested for voice-over work, most recently co-narrating an audiobook for MacMillan Publishing.
Currently, Michael is focused on painting, co-writing songs with various artists, developing a new film project, and continues to be a devout student of Zen Buddhism, meditation, Raja yoga, and chanting.
