I lost my muse when my husband and I split and as I worked to support my family as well as attending the College of Art, was sidetracked by job and life. I am now retired and living in Europe, where we are spoiled by the culture and a multitude of parks and forests. A gentle climate makes it possible for us to spend a large part of our free time outside, walking or cycling along the Rhine.
I was initially inspired by Georgia O'Keefe and Andrew Wyeth. I was raised in the country and have always found peace in nature. I started experimenting with pastels last summer, while visiting Belleville in Canada. I find the medium very forgiving. A couple of months ago, took an online course with a watercolour artist and loved the unpredictability of the combination of colour and paint. My husband purchased this course for my birthday and I am looking forward to learning more about the use of watercolour to paint birds, as I promised my grandson a rendering of his Quaker Parrot, his soulmate.
