Marta Cerejo

I'm Marta. I am Portuguese, born and raised in a city in the country's interior. I always loved to read. I "consume" books, mainly of fantasy and sci-fi. Since I was little I had this desire to write, but I never pursued it. Whether from laziness to try or due to a very active life - sports and science were two other major passions (besides reading), I never put myself in a project of writing a book. I wrote short stories, my dreams and my thoughts, I wrote my master and PhD thesis and a lot of papers, but never a work of fiction. I just thought I would never be as good at it as the authors I read. But now, here I am, 44 years old, currently working as a technology transfer officer in academia, after 12 years in bioengineering research, and my life changed so much in the past 4 years, that I finally have something I want to share with the world. So, about 2 weeks ago I started to build my fantasy/dystopic/sci-fi world. As a scientist at heart, I need to get training so that I have enough data to be critical and to innovate. Just as I teach my entrepreneurship students and the researchers that I support in their innovative process. I just hope this course can give the first basis for writing. I don't need to be published (it would be a dream come true nonetheless) but I do need to make this story that is in my mind, and the message I want to deliver a reality. Looking forward to it!
