Mark Hoesly

I am a new aspiring maker (I cannot quite imagine referring to myself as artist, yet) at a somewhat advanced age. I am married to a textile artist who is a greatest inspiration and with whom I love exploring art in its many, many forms. I have always been drawn to mosaics— from Ancient Greek and Roman floors that I have been fortunate enough to see firsthand to my favorite mosaic of all, Marc Chagall’s Four Seasons in Chicago. When visiting Fez, Morocco several years ago, I was mesmerized as I watched mosaicists create almost unbelievable images and patterns. I have a few ideas of projects floating around in my head and am thrilled to finally be taking this first step toward making my mosaic dreams a reality.
