Hello. Earlier this year, my 4-year old grandnephew, titled a vibrant painting he had just completed as "a chocolate donut going for a walk in the sun." His art and his joy spontaneously rekindled an interest in art for me. I've never done illustration before but have admired its use in a various publications on gardening, interior design, architecture, travel and urban design.

A career in city planning took me to variety of locations throughout the US: the midwest, the south, southeast, Pacific northwest and the desert southwest. In each place I gardened. I have gardened for over 70 years and continue to be fascinated by the textures, the colors, the architecture, the growth patterns, and the sheer beauty of plants whether alone and in combinations. That is why plants will be my focus, at least in the beginning.

I want to learn how to do that. Your introduction makes me feel confident I've picked the right class to start.

(Sorry, I don't have a profile picture. Probably not uncommon for older single women. I have not had a photo of myself for many years. I will try to get one before I finish the class. Or, perhaps I should illustrate one.)
