Larry Butchins

Author, screenwriter, MarCom content developer, actor, voice-over artist. I have been a writer all my life; since writing stories at school, becoming a journalist, then a content developer for PR and advertising. About 15 years ago, I started writing a novelized version of my experiences as a journalist in apartheid South Africa and I completed and published the book in 2018. I am now in discussions with producers about adapting the novel to a limited series for TV. I have completed draft #6 of the screenplay and am now waiting for feedback and notes from the producers. Now I feel it would be helpful for me to be able to present my screenplay to potential producers/investors together with a storyboard.
My interests are varied and eclectic: musically, I love jazz, folk and country rock, classics and female contemporary performers. Another passion is art - I love to sketch and paint: I have recently completed a series of eight watercolors of renovated old buildings in and around Tel Aviv, the center of the Bauhaus school of architecture. In addition, I enjoy sketching and painting old cars and machinery. In the kitchen I am quit proficient in cooking Italian and Indian cuisine.
But writing is my passion - the freedom to create scenarios, characters, locations and situations. During the lockdowns, I have followed many screenwriting lectures and courses, learned how to use Final Draft and upgraded my craft. This course will, hopefully, help me to polish it even more.
