Kerin Freeman

I come from Southampton, England but now live in New Zealand - a beautiful country. My background is in editing/proofreading - my first job was editing for an international scientific journal in Belgium. But ever since I was a small child I loved drawing, painting, colouring in. My mother used to draw figures in the front of any book she bought me so I guess I got it from her. I have won awards for my paintings over time. For a while I gave it up when editing, but now I work at my art full time. I paint portraits and have recently been given commissions. Painting is my happy place. I have learnt various techniques: charcoal and graphite and using oils. I love painting portraits - faces, especially the eyes, that hold the history or mystery of that person inside them. I have placed my work on social media and have sold a few of my paintings, and have entered competitions. In January of this year I had my first solo exhibition here in NZ. I would really like to find more ways in which to sell my work - painting takes up a lot of my time so I do tend to finish a painting then wonder what is the best way in which to reach a much wider market - especially internationally and gain more commissions and sales. I am hoping this course will help me do that :)
