I love sketching and illustrating buildings. I have been doing it for 50 years. I live in Scotland, and spend much time drawing and sketching in Glasgow, a city full of wonderful Victorian architecture, slowly being ruined by miserable cheap new building. Pathetic, and dull! I like new work my profile picture is a drawing of a 1956 church by Glasgow architects, Gillespie, Kidd and Coia, this has ten times the style of some of the newer stuff.
My influences in my drawings are people like Paul Hogarth, John Piper and David Gentleman.
The tools I use are simple, a tiny Moleskine sketchbook I carry everywhere, together with a couple of black pens and a pencil. I also keep my little box of Cotman watercolours to hand. An iPad is a new trick for me, I saw some work by the great David Hockney, and thought if he can do it as his age, I can surely learn something useful.
