Julia Breckenreid is an award-winning illustrator with 25+ years of experience creating engaging and thoughtful artwork for a diverse clientele, including major publishers, magazines, and institutions. Specializing in picture books, editorial illustration, and cover art. Adept at visual storytelling, conceptual development, and bringing ideas to life with a unique and expressive style. Equally passionate about sharing what she knows through teaching and mentoring.
Her thoughtful picture book illustration work has been featured in the NYT Books section and selected by The Original Art Exhibition: A showcase of illustrations from the year’s best children’s books of the year at the Society of Illustrators Museum in both 2021 and 2023. Julia’s work has been awarded a gold medal by the Society of Illustrators in New York and acknowledged repeatedly by American Illustration, Communication Arts and 3x3 professional awards annuals. She is featured in a few books about illustration, notably in 100 Illustrators, as selected by Steven Heller & Taschen Books.
