Judith Chantler

In 1986 I went to central Australia on a four months trip with my husband. We had given up our jobs and flat in Sydney. Paul brought a decent camera and I took material to draw and do pastels. While Paul photographed I painted. We returned to Sydney and Paul got his old job back but I suddenly realised I would never work at a job again. Over a period of 12 months I painted and drew and listened deeply and intently to my dreams and intuition. One day I announced I was starting a greeting card company.
I had bit by bit come to know this is what I had wanted and had done the ground work. I used Paul’s photos from out trip and my paintings. I got many outlets and the cards sold. I hand made them by photographing my work and mounting the photos onto card. 34 years later my husband is still busy supplying outlets with his photos mounted as prints.
I have had some health issues for a while though recovering. I have found it very difficult trying to get back my confidence and love of painting. So here I am and already hugely inspired by this course and can’t wait to go again.
