Born in São Paulo in 1983, João Montenegro began his art studies in 1998 with a technical course in graphic design. During this period he started working as an illustrator and graphic designer in different publishers in São Paulo. In 2006, he got a degree in Fine Arts from the Arts Institute of the Paulista State University (UNESP).
He studied woodcut print and metal engraving at the Lasar Segall Museum studio, under the guidance of graphic artist Cláudio Mubarac. After working as art director in different companies, in 2012 he founded Combover Studio a multimedia studio where he works with art direction for video producers and some of the biggest advertising agencies in Brazil. In 2014, he worked in partnership with Dáphne Cornez and Fabrice Bolledrawing several costumes and scenographic elements for the opening ceremony of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. Currently the artist is focused on his studio and his authorial production of engravings, illustrations and mural paintings.
