I have been sewing since I was quite young. I remember sitting with a number of the women in my family and all of us sewing our projects. My hero was an older cousin who gave me a big tangled ball of embroidery thread, which I thought was the best gift ever and I had a large box of fabric scraps that I slowly collected from castoffs. I am interested in visible mending, darning, mixed media drawing and painting with embroidered embellishments and found objects. I have done weaving, painting and ceramics, but I return to the needle as my favorite medium. I'm a poet with a tendency toward writing and making art about nature. I live in on a farm near Buffalo, Rochester, and Niagara Falls, not all that far from Toronto, as the crow flies. I'm very interested in Americana and World music, enjoy zydeco and swing dance and these themes also creep into my visual and written work.
