Janet Brown

I do art, science, and Theology, fiber arts, sculpture, retired Earth Science teacher, and Christian educator. I do the latter on a volunteer basis now. I learned to crochet 55 years ago, but only started doing it again the last five years or so when the arthritis in my hand kept me from my favorite hand spinning, knitting, and weaving. I’ve also gotten interested in needle felting landscapes. I live in the country on the side of a little mountain that looks across a narrow valley to the Blue Ridge Mountain. There is no difficulty finding a view with the Shenandoah River on the other side of the Ridge and the Potomac River a couple of miles up the road. Oh, I also write. I’ve been journaling 25+ years, 2-3 pages a day by cursive fountain pen . I’m excited with the idea of designing my own sweater. I rarely do garments because I want to use my hand spun yarn that accumulates by the tub full in the basement. Also, with crochet, I don’t have to ply the yarn with crochet.
