Erin Bartels

Though I am a copywriter and a novelist by trade, I have been painting since childhood, first with watercolor then acrylic. As an adult I decided to finally try oils despite everyone always saying they were "messy" and "expensive." I am so glad I finally took the plunge because this is truly the medium for me. I've been building my skills for a few years and in 2022 decided to tackle my fear of portraiture by committing to doing one self-portrait a month. As of now, I have eleven completed with one more to go! But I would love to be looser in my technique while still getting a good likeness.
