I am a creator, who loves all types of making.
I have always loved watching and learning how objects are created, starting in yarn crafts as a child as many were.... this developed my interest in all things that included raw materials and crafting in some way to create a finished product.
I couldn't wait till I was 16 and was able to do my first adult class, which was leather work which was 40+ years ago now.
I worked in the printing industry, did night courses in sign writing, compositing and worked as a bookbinder for many years before retraining in art.
During this period I studied silversmithing and sculpture concentrating in casting methods small Silver/pewter and large scale Bronze learning the skills needed to craft metal to add to my leatherwork. When I finished this I studied graphic design and printmaking, to formalise my work in the printing industry and to just have a play in the printmaking space which I have always loved and admired.
I taught in the adult education space during this period... 15 years... teaching drawing, leather, bookbinding, then went on to complete formal qualifications with a BEd in Art and Design and Technology and have been teaching for 20 years.
I purchased a small screen printing workshop 7 years ago, it was part of an estate which had been sitting unworked for 10 years. I have been working to restore, refit and update to a working creative space.
My goal is to share this space with other creatives and to mentor others in their journey in art.... No particular plans, we have the machinery and supplies, so having this workshop space inspires me to start afresh, sharing skills, learning new things, brushing up on old skills and creating the things that have been brewing in my head for years is my true insipation.... looking forward is always the best approach in life....
