Corinne Reid

Associate Professor | Illustrator and Designer | East Coast USA

Hello everyone!

My name is Corinne, an artist and designer with over 10 years experience in freelance art and education.

All the work seen in my portfolio is produced using a range of media, but intends to mimic a classically
traditional aesthetic. Using digital and traditional tools, I converge painted textures, photographs, and custom brushes to create uniquely striking effects, colors and visuals. Aesthetically, much of my visual influence is sourced from historic artwork and inspirational concepts found throughout India and East Asia. I am endlessly enamored by the nuanced color, flowing line and concise composition. In channeling these same visual approaches, I aspire to create rhythmic narratives that blur the distinction of space and form.

My personal work is driven by the interconnectedness of humans and nature. Frequently referencing the
fundamental relationships of local biospheres, I work to cultivate deep connections with my audience about their own lived experiences. It is ideal that my viewers adopt a speculative disposition and find personal meaning among the jumble of melodic imagery. Although narrative elements from illustration are borrowed to strengthen the composition and designed space, I often prioritize the use of metaphor. This then constitutes the allegorical
framework which guides my audience towards my intent without tarnishing their interpretation.

Though the essence of my personal ambitions are less explored, my commercial work primarily captures the unique perspective of characters within their own stories. Flowing shapes and illuminated colors dominate the space, working with organic form and capturing a sense of timelessness.
