Post-production techniques have changed and evolved considerably, due to constantly emerging platforms and interest for content of this kind. There are now many different formats for social media, as well as new trends for editing color. Colorist and post-producer Leo Fallas has a long trajectory in the color-editing field, having worked on a plethora of advertising campaigns, films, series, video clips, and documentaries. He currently works in content for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
In this course, Leo teaches techniques to work quicker, how to color various versions at the same time, retouching skin tone, coloring product shots, and how to submit your work in many different formats.

First, you’ll meet Leo Fallas, learn about his professional experience, and how he transitioned from editor to colorist. He explains how his background has shaped his style and shares his influences.
Start by preparing the color page of the software, an essential step that is sometimes overlooked. Establish your preferences, while discovering interesting tricks to help you work more easily.
Discover how to import images and organize them by color, tags, or intelligent folders, to improve your coloring process. Prepare your editing to transfer it to DaVinci Resolve, and learn some useful rules used in post-production. Identify the most common mistakes at the conforming stage to avoid them in your workflow.
Time to start color correcting! See the basics of color theory applied to video, focusing on the primary correction tools. Next, move on to the more specific, secondary tools to work on adjusting color, such as selecting by color, masks, tracking, or trimming. Leo will give you valuable advice to work more efficiently, paste attributes, how to use group nodes, and the local color options vs remote versions.
Lastly, you will see how to export your finished color corrections in different sizes, in frames per second and codecs; As well as how to save your work in high quality and some final tips before concluding the course.

Who is this online course for?
For colorists with basic and intermediate knowledge, directors of photography, editors, or anyone with basic knowledge in color editing that wants to strengthen their knowledge in the field of color correction.
Requirements and materials
You will need basic notions of how image editing software works, preferably some knowledge in color correction, although the course is apt for beginners.
To complete the course, you need a computer equipped with the DaVinci Resolve software (you can download version 16 of the software for free, which will be the version used in this course).

Leo was born in Costa Rica, where he started out as an editor. He collaborated with several directors in the field, before deciding to specialize in cinematic post-production in Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica de México, where he discovered color. He then returned to Costa Rica, where he started his own coloring studio, working on films, documentaries, advertising, and video clips for twelve years.
Today, he lives in Mexico and works as a freelance colorist, working on content for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. He is also passionate about teaching and gives coloring classes on a regular basis.
