About the final project for: Ceramic Glazing for Beginners

Enameled ceramic for beginners

“In the final project the student must apply one or several enamelling techniques, which have been taught in units 2 and 3, on a piece of pottery. At the beginning of unit 2 it is made clear to the student that all lessons will be explained using tiles. These tiles will allow the student to have at the end of the course a sample with the techniques learned, so that he can keep them to have whenever he needs, and to make it much easier to decide which technique to choose for the final project. The student will also be explained in unit 2. that the tiles can make them on their own or you can buy them (I will show the pieces so they can see the difference). I will talk about what materials are made and show a piece of the same material so that they see that it is all cases of ceramic pieces. I will explain that for the final project they must decorate a piece made by them (in case they have previous knowledge of modeling) or purchased. I will make it clear that the tiles and the pieces of the final project must be of the same type of mud, so that the sample is real, since not all the materials react the same on the different muds. I will show on the table the tiles and a piece of pottery so that the student is clear from the first moment how the dynamics of the course will be and the objective of the final project. ”

For my final project I made a dessert plate, but you can choose any piece you want and combine the techniques you like best. I started by explaining the underglaze technique and the materials you need. The first technique I exp...”
