Domestika Basics · 5 courses included

Gone are the days when it was necessary to have a recording studio to create, produce, and record music. With Ableton Live, one of the most used software in the music industry, you can create your first musical composition wherever you are, no matter your level of experience.

In this five-course Domestika Basics, you'll learn how to use Ableton Live for music production and, with some basic knowledge, you'll be able to record your music ideas and achieve professional results.

With music producer Cristóbal Saavedra as your guide, you'll start these series of courses getting to know the software’s interface, its different audio channels, general controls, and the basic steps for starting a new project.

Next up, learn how to use the editor and explore some of the tabs such as Clip and Sample, and the different Warp modes. Start recording, monitor external audio and learn more about how the other tools work. By the end of the second course, you'll create your first project, adding effects and variations of your choice in a practical lesson.

The third course will be all about exploring the instrument’s universe such as the piano roll, keyboards, effects, and the recording MINI mode. Also, you'll learn what is the quantization effect and how to use it. Then, take everything you have learned to practice creating your project from MIDI clips.

Start the fourth course discovering how to combine, capture, and add scenes in Ableton Live. You'll learn how to use external devices, the start tab, and its different functionalities. Before the practice, Cristóbal will give you professional tips to improve your project.

Finally, in the last course of this Domestika Basics, you’ll get to know the Arrangement view, its characteristics and how to make changes in your project from this screen. In the end, you'll learn to explore the audio and obtain the final track.

Technical Requirements

⦁ A computer with Windows or Mac with any version of Ableton Live installed. The teacher will use the Suite version but you can use the Intro or Standard ones.
⦁ If you have a MIDI controller and a sound card, you'll take even more advantage of this Domestika Basics.
⦁ If you don’t have the software, download the 30-day trial version of Ableton Live 10 Suite in Ableton’s official website.
