Start by getting to know the main features and strengths of WooCommerce, the WordPress.org plugin for creating a simple and effective online store. Joan shows you how to install it and adjust the settings to adapt your e-commerce website to your personal preferences.
Next, find out how to deal with taxes, shipping costs, and payment methods. Create both physical and virtual products (e.g. downloadable products that do not require shipping), grouped products, affiliate products, and variable or user-customizable products.
Now it’s time to add structure and a format to the store by using some menus and widgets. Apply more detailed categorization using attributes, categories, and tags.
Finally, learn how to manage orders, set up promotional coupons, and create performance reports to evaluate the effectiveness of your e-commerce site.
What is this course's project?
Create a fully operational online store that’s ready to start selling on WordPress.org.

A course by Joan Boluda
Joan was born on a sunny Monday in 1979, but he didn't start surfing the Internet until 1992, the year he was given a PC that came with a noisy 56.6 Kbps modem. Since the Internet was a "small place" at the time, he decided to expand it, and started making web pages with Windows Notepad—and he hasn’t stopped since.
His professional career began in 1999, when his online supermarket project “MarketNet” won the ESADE-Microsoft First Prize for the best transactional website. This led to Sinotec, his first venture as an entrepreneur, which lasted until he finished his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. With his degrees done and dusted, he began to develop several website projects, dabbling in a bit of everything from web design and programming to SEO and AdWords. He kept learning and growing by adapting to the needs of each project as they progressed, punching as many keys as humanly possible.
By 2009, he had already specialized in strategic online marketing and WordPress consulting. Joan is certified by AdWords, Analytics, and Hubspot’s Inbound Certification. He also specializes in digital marketing in executive education programs as an associate professor at ESADE and teaches workshops at the UAB university. In addition to his professional work, he is the co-organizer of the Barcelona WordPress Meetup, English Barcelona WordPress Meetup, Mataró WordPress Meetup, and WordCamp Barcelona.
Tune in to his online marketing podcast where he goes live every day at 07:07.
