Nature is an unequaled color palette, which runs through the entire visible spectrum, from the green of the trees to the blue of the sky. She finds her inspiration Anabel Torres, Mexican textile artist, who, in her quest for sustainability, discovered natural textile dyeing more than seven years ago and since then she has been dedicated to it, giving natural color to different products and sharing her technique by performing workshops

In this course you will learn to dye fibers and fabrics with natural pigments, and then collect all your formulas and annotations in a dyeing log, the best friend of any textile artist.

You will start by knowing Anabel, who will tell you about her career in the world of textile dyeing, about her brand Anteis and the collaborations she has made through it. You will take a tour of some of its influences, from the use of color in traditional clothing to current artists who experiment with natural pigments.

You will soon discover what a dyeing logbook is, the guide of any textile artist. Anabel will explain how it works and what are the sections that compose it.

You will review the characteristics and classification of some pigments that you can find in nature, then study the natural fibers and tools that you will use during the course.

To start your blog, you will start dyeing your skeins, using plant pigments first, then soil and clays, cochineal grana and, finally, indigo. Anabel will teach you to prepare the fibers for dyeing, separate the samples and capture the information of each of these and their pigments, in your blog.

Then you will learn to create variations of your basic pigments through various techniques. You will start with the dyeing, which consists of creating new colors by dyeing one color on top of another and you will create textures, prints and motifs with the dyeing attached.

Finally, you will pass all the information obtained to your blog and organize your samples, so that you can consult it for any of your textile projects.

What is this course's project?

You will develop a logbook dyed with natural pigments, consisting of formulas, samples and variations to add color to your own fabrics, stamens and threads.
