About the final project for: Introduction to Child Photography
Introduction to professional photography with children
“Dear student, We have reached the final stretch, I congratulate you! ;-) There are a thousand different ways to deal with a project like this. I recommend in any case, whatever the scale of the same (professional or more amateur) you rely on a team, be it professional or with friends to help you. It is very difficult to cover everything while being alone. Remember that to focus on the important: model management, acting, composition, visual strength, etc. you must have controlled and secured the technical and logistic aspect so as not to get distracted by these issues during the moment of shooting. You gain that security by checking the location before, doing a camera and light test, and reviewing all those aspects that concern production. The more you make sure before the day of shooting, the quieter and safer you will be at the time of facing the work. Your security is vital to address the model and get what you are looking for. Do not be discouraged if something is wrong during the preparations phase. It is very common that for example in a location where you have been told that "yes" an eventuality arises and finally you have to look for another. The same with the models and other aspects. You have to be open to changes throughout the process and accept them without losing energy and desire. Be expeditious and have no modesty in "asking" during the process. If, for example, you are excited to shoot in a place you like, offer something in return: take pictures of space, for example. This can be applied to many other aspects of your production. Remember that it can be an exchange of interests. If your project is ambitious, and you can afford it, contact what could be your ideal team and place. You would be surprised to know that many people with a good portfolio still want to collaborate with someone less known if your project idea is powerful. The moodboard is the key to capture that “yes” of the team. The better finish you give it, the more appealing it will be and the more they will want to work by your side. I recommend that you share your idea first, and your project later, with the other partners. Not only is my feedback useful, theirs can contribute a lot, since they are in the same boat as you, you can row together! It has been a real pleasure to share my experience with you. I will try to answer your comments and questions as soon as I can. Photographers are always juggling a thousand projects at once, so be patient to receive my answer. See you soon! ;-) ”
