Antoni Arola
A course by Antoni Arola
Antoni Arola was born in Tarragona in 1960 and currently lives in Barcelona.
After studying at the EINA School of Design in Barcelona, he began his professional career in 1984 at the Liévore y Pensi studio before moving on to AD Associate Designers. In 1994, he founded Estudi Antoni Arola.
He's collaborated on projects in a wide variety of fields, such as lighting for Santa & Cole, Viabizzuno, and Metalarte, furniture, perfume bottles, interior design, and exhibitions. He combines his professional career with teaching, workshops, artistic experimentation, and light research.
His never-ending search for beauty, inspired by ancient cultures and his particular vision of light, have helped him develop a singular style that accentuates each project.
His work has earned him numerous awards, including the 1999 and 2001 Silver Delta Award, the 2003 National Design Award, the 2009 I-Plus Award for best lighting, and the 2012 Red Dot Award. More recently, he was named an honorary member of the APDI.
