Learn to create color schemes that reflect your personality and artistic sensibility
In painting, design, fine arts and in any artistic branch, having a great mastery of color is fundamental and even as important as mastering the technique in question. The painter and illustrator Ana Victoria Calderón, after a long career working with watercolor, combines and plays like nobody else with the colors in her organic-style creations.
In this course, Ana Victoria will teach you the knowledge of mixing and theory so that you develop two color palettes applied to illustrations, unlike her previous courses in which she focused more on the part of techniques to illustrate: Modern watercolor techniques , to learn how to use the medium and Applied techniques of illustration in watercolor , complementary course to practice botanical and compositional elements.

About this course
Ana Victoria will begin the course by introducing herself, showing you some of her works and talking about her sources of inspiration.
You will discover what project you are going to develop during the course: the creation of a color palette in watercolors using a basic photograph, and you will see what type of materials you will need.
You will review the basic theory of color with a focus on watercolor as a medium, and learn basic concepts.
Through practical exercises, you will learn to use the color circle, you will see how important temperature is in a composition, and how to achieve harmony and contrast; You will also check the tones you can get with the use of complementary, as well as converting a complementary color into another.
Then, based on your identity as an artist, you will develop your color palette. First you will make an mood board of interests after doing an individual exploration. You will see examples of Ana Victoria's personal process, when developing the palette of each work, and will give you suggestions. You will practice some color palettes.
For your final project you will make two illustrations, two versions of a complete work. In the first, you can extract a palette with your knowledge of mixing and theory to recreate a technical palette of a nature photograph. In the second, you will create a color palette from your artistic sensibility.
What is this course's project?
The final project of this course is to create two color palettes applied to two watercolor illustrations, one more technical and others more personal. You will leave this course with a new way to combine colors and a personal color identity.

Who is it for?
To watercolor enthusiasts and artists who want to enrich their color language using watercolor as a medium.
What you need
It is recommended to have basic knowledge of watercolor: transparencies, gradients and have a basic control of the brush. This course will not show you how to use your paintings, but how to mix color.
As for materials, you will need watercolor paints (pill, tube or liquids), brushes of various sizes, watercolor paper, water and a rag.
