About the final project for: Guided Project: Creating a Capsule Fashion Collection
Fashion Collection Design
“We've created a selection of ideas to help you complete your learning experience. We understand that starting a project from scratch can be intimidating, even for the most experienced. These proposals have been designed as creative springboards that you can customize according to: - Your own style and vision - The level you have reached - Your particular interests Remember, these are just suggestions to stimulate your imagination. The key is to apply what you've learned and enjoy creating something that represents you. 1. Design a mini capsule collection with a personal concept In this project, you will create a small capsule collection of 3 to 5 pieces, developed from a personal concept that represents an emotion, memory, or aesthetic inspiration. You will learn to observe, research, conceptualize, and translate your ideas into a coherent visual narrative. Project example: Develop a capsule collection inspired by "home away from home." Think of textures, colors, and shapes that evoke belonging and nostalgia. 2. Moodboard and visual manifesto for a capsule collection Before designing garments, this project invites you to immerse yourself in the research and conceptualization process. You'll create a mood board and a visual manifesto with keywords, colors, and textures that express the identity of your future collection. Project example: Create a visual manifesto based on the idea of “soft rebellion”: how to communicate strength through subtlety in feminine or androgynous fashion. 3. Series of conceptual sketches for a capsule collection This project focuses on developing illustrative sketches that represent the essence of your capsule collection. You don't need to be a perfect sketcher; the key is to capture the spirit of your concept. Project example: Create three sketches of looks inspired by the aesthetics of the 90s, reinterpreted with a futuristic look. 4. Technical design: sheet of a star garment In this challenge, you'll select a featured garment from your collection and create its complete technical sheet, including sewing details, materials, and views (front and back). This exercise will help you think like a professional designer. Project example: Design the technical sheet for a transformable dress (that can be worn in two ways), with a focus on functionality and contemporary style. 5. Visual storytelling: build the narrative of your collection This project aims to organize your capsule collection into a coherent visual narrative. You'll select three to five final looks and present a layout or presentation that shows the conceptual, stylistic, and emotional progression of your designs. Project example: Presents a capsule collection called "Digital Awakening," which explores the relationship between humans and technology through organic silhouettes combined with technical textiles.
