This simplified way of seeing values and shadows can help you tackle rendering to help you achieve a more 3D look. And once you get better at values you can add midtones into your work by using the following: light, light-medium, medium, medium-dark and dark. This takes a bit of practice but would be incredibly helpful to achieve a rendered look for your illustrations. ”
