For this painting, I've gone with a medium texture acrylic prime cotton canvas. You can also use a linen canvas. However, I find the medium texture cotton is a great option for beginners. Not only is it more affordable, but the texture allows for fine detail that you would get on an ultra smooth canvas without sacrificing the grip for paint application.
