What's included in this course?
To begin, you will learn how to select and prepare the necessary materials, identifying the best garments to recycle and reuse. You will sketch and plan the design of your backpack, ensuring a clear vision of the project before starting.
Next, you will dive into deconstructing the selected garments. You will separate all the pieces and seams, learning to identify and preserve the useful parts. You will prepare the sewing patterns that will serve as a template for your upcycled backpack.
Following that, you will focus on crafting the backpack. You will work on the front design and zipper placement, adding interfacing to give the piece more firmness and structure. With the sewing machine ready, you will start assembling the different parts of the backpack, including the straps, sides, and base.
Finally, you will learn how to cut the lining and add the finishing touches to your backpack. This phase includes techniques to ensure that the inside of your creation is as polished as the outside. Additionally, you will use the leftover materials to make a small makeup bag, maximizing the use of all resources and minimizing waste.
