“Pointillism and dotwork shading techniques We’ll start with the pointillism lesson. In this lesson I’ll show you how to do shading and textures using dots. To do pointillism, I use the thinnest needle. Take out the filling needle you used last and we’ll use the 3RL 10 caliber needle. If you don’t have a 10 caliber, no worries, the effect is the same. It just needs to be a 3RL at most a 5RL, but not more than that. This needle we used before for thin lines, we can reuse it to do the dots.
