About the final project for: Introduction to Linocut Printing: Create Poetic Prints

Introduction to Linocut Printing: Create Poetic Prints

“Thank you all for participating in this workshop. Linocut is different from drawing and requires you to let yourself make mistakes. Perfection does not exist in this technique, so try to use your mistakes to create something else, nothing is fixed. It is a meditative technique that requires you to accept the present. These are the most relevant steps of the process that I hope to see in your final course project: 1 - Choose the scene to burn

2 - Draw the scene in pencil and identify the 2 colors you want to represent on the linoleum: color A on plate 1 and color B on plate 2.
3 - Start engraving the plates. Take a gouge suitable for the surface to be engraved. Start with the contours in order to create a groove to protect the areas to be saved.
4 - Paint the plate with the lightest color first and let it dry. Do not overload the roller and try to add ink gradually so as not to block the grooves.
5 - Ink the plate with the darkest color. Finally, add some finishing touches, such as gold leaf, which will be applied with a varnish.
Out of respect for your sources of inspiration, and to make your project your own, I invite you to detach yourself from my model or those of other artists, to detach yourself from the example and to add your personal touch. I invite you to continue sharing and creating by participating in the forum, commenting on other participants' work, and interacting with the community. See you soon on the forum”

It is a meditative technique that requires accelerating perfection. I will summarize the essential steps to successfully complete your final project. First, choose the scene you want to burn. Artistic Guide to Linocut Printing

Marion Livran is a self-taught illustrator who reinvented herself after a 12-year career as a graphic designer. For over five years, she has devoted herself fully to art and linoleum engraving, a discipline that allows her to explore the movement and complexity of human forms. Inspired by artists such as Matisse, Schiele, and Cocteau, Marion draws on various sources of inspiration, from dance to literature, to enrich her creative universe. Her passion for linocutting has led her to create increasingly daring works, ranging from multi-colored raisin formats.

Alongside her artistic practice, Marion shares her know-how through introductory and creativity workshops in Paris. She has collaborated with prestigious brands in the fields of jewelry, perfume and spirits, and has exhibited in renowned galleries and boutiques such as Artazart and Fleux. Her work is also represented internationally by online galleries. For Marion, art is a non-verbal means of expression, a therapy that allows one to connect with one's deep emotions, which she strives to transmit to her students with enthusiasm and kindness.
