About the video: My painting process 1
Overview
“In this class, I'll show you my painting process and how I use the "Blending modes" to be able to paint any skin in any lighting. Before doing this in my project, I will show using spheres as an example and my process in four different scenes with four types of lighting: a cloudless sunny day, a grayer and cloudier day, a golden hour and a dusk. I'll show how the same skin tone completely changes based on the environment the character is in, and so it's a very important step to make the illustration make sense and feel that the character belongs in that environment. This is a very important rule to make the character more real. And as always, before putting any color into my portraits, I always do this little study to see how the light in the scene will look. That way, when I go to paint the portrait, I'll already have 80% of the work done and it will only be necessary to apply the colors. ”
In this video lesson Wilno Fakie addresses the topic: My painting process 1, which is part of the Domestika online course: Digital Painting and Portraiture for Black Skin. Learn to depict the diversity of African features in Photoshop with the right tones and lighting for each context.

When you understand and internalize this process of mine, you will be able to paint any skin in any lighting. Follow me as I explain my process. This process is fundamentally b...”

A course by Wilno Fakie
Wilno António, better known as Fakie Art or Wilno Fakie, is a self-taught digital artist specializing in portraits of black people. After creating an artistic profile on Instagram in 2017, he realized that most creators did not make characters from this ethnic group, which is what motivated him to turn his attention to this group. He believes that his art, which combines realism with characteristics from the cartoon genre, is a means of expressing himself beyond words, in addition to inspiring other creators to include African beauty in their work.
