“In this lesson, I will talk to you about the artistic dimension of the herbarium. We studied the primary function of the herbarium, but there is a poetic and aesthetic dimension. For the little story, the first to have made this distinction was the abbot of Quevauillier. In his diary, called “Jerusalem Herbarium” from 1863, he created the composition which he called “Flowers of the Mountains of Nazareth”. YOU will be able to see five fronds, represented by five sprigs of fern. These fronds alternate with wallflower-type flowers. In the center, a large mauve type flower closes this rosette. ...”
