About the final project for: Textile Design for Children's Fashion

Fabric design for children's clothing

“Congratulations! You have now reached the end of this Domestika course. I would like to thank you for your participation and hope you gained valuable insight, confidence and inspiration for your fabric design projects. Now it's time to work on your project, which means either finishing it or presenting it on the forum right away. In any case, I would like to remind you to take photos of the different stages to show the entire process. I would also like to encourage you to let your creativity run wild. My fabric design should only serve as inspiration for you. Don't forget to take your time, be patient and practice! If you notice that it's not working out well, choose another time to design - eventually the right time will come. Here I have summarized the most important steps for completing the project as briefly as possible for you: Inspiration and choice of motif Get inspired and choose your motifs. No idea is too crazy or too simple, so go for your wildest and strangest ideas.

Design the motif On the iPad, draw a main character, a secondary character and various small elements as in-between fill.
Creating the pattern Export your designs to Photoshop and create a seamless pattern.
Optimization and variants Set one or more background colors, optimize scaling depending on usage, and control your pattern.
Test print Test print your seamless pattern on fabric. Then you can sew it up!
Is your project finished? Then upload it to the forum. To do this, simply click on “Create your project”. Remember to show both the result and pictures of your work process. You can also add a short explanation. The forum gives you the opportunity to not only present your projects, but also to exchange ideas with other course participants and find more inspiration. Of course, I will also stop by as often as possible to give you feedback and answer your questions. I'm excited about your fabric design and sewing projects! Have fun, see you! ”

“Now we are at the end of the course. Thank you for your participation. I hope you had as much fun as I did. Take your time with your seamless pattern. If it doesn't work right away, choose another time. It will definitely work at some point. Since you are practically creating life on the cloth, you need a lot of time and love. We now have all doors open to create your own fabric and therefore unique clothes. No idea is too crazy or too simple. So feel free to dare your wildest and strangest ideas. Children can get so excited about all sorts of things, so your effort will definitely be worth...”
