About the video: Flow Fields
Overview
“By taking over the particle system, I will make sure that these no longer move in a straight line. The direction of their speed will be calculated according to their position using the “Perlin noise” function.”
In this video lesson Julien Gachadoat addresses the topic: Flow Fields, which is part of the Domestika online course: Intro to Creative Coding: Create Graphic Objects. Get started in creative programming and learn classic generative design algorithms to create animated words and shapes.

“In this lesson. the previously linear movement of the particles will change as they follow a path dictated by a flow field. Their velocity directions will vary based on a modulation from a Perlin Noise function. In 1983. ken Perlin. a professor at New York University. created this function out of frustration overly mechanical appearance of computer-generated images prevalent at that time. We will start from the previous sketch. renamed here as U4L2 Particles Flow Field. and I'll just eliminate all aspects associated with this concept. the linking of particles. the tracing of particle paths....”
