About the final project for: Animated Transitions with 2D Illustration & After Effects

Animated Transitions with 2D Illustration & After Effects

“We've reached the end of this course! Thank you for joining me. I do hope you've enjoyed the process and now feel ready to work on your own animation with transitions. I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. To help you, I will sum up here the main steps you need to follow to complete your project. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It would be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell me if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. The Script Choose a script for your animation. It could be a short phrase, a quote, a paragraph from a book or newspaper. It could even be a project you did in the past that you’d like to refresh. Thumbnails and Colour Draw thumbnails based on the script and choose 2 designs that you like best and that could be connected to create a story. Then, explore different colour combinations for these two scenes using the same colour palette.

The Transition Try to come up with as many transitions between these two scenes as possible. Think about common shapes, movement, zooming, shape-shifting, morphing and more! Choose the transition you will work on and design it in colour.
The Animation Be mindful of animation timings. Remember different speeds, durations and frame rates will significantly affect your production time and make your transition look different. Don’t forget you can add small details and play with your brushes and textures to make your animation unique.
When you are done, upload your project to the forum by clicking on ‘Create a project’. I’ll do my best to respond to each and every one of your comments as soon as possible. In the meantime, interact with the community and comment on your peers’ work! Keep exploring and have fun! See you in the forum! ”

But you really spend some time on exploring the possibilities. which you don't normally do in one linear project. It took me years to realise how important this exploration is. by doing so many different projects. So I hope this course can really allow you to have time to think about and discover your potential. Before you start designing transition animation, Don't rush into designing the connected part. Take a step ba...”
