“ Influences In this lesson, I want to share with you some objects that are exciting for me. These are artifacts I keep around me. They bring me literal joy when I look at them. They keep me inspired to create and design. The first object I'll share with you is a set of books related to Arabic calligraphy and lettering in general. Any designer interested in Arabic should have one of those books with them. These are what we call "Kurrasat Al-Khatt Al-'Arabi" or these handouts that explain how Arabic calligraphy works. For example, I have the one by Hashim Muhammad al-Khattat, "Qawa'id Al-Kha...”

He studied graphic design at Notre Dame University and completed a master’s in the subject from Rhode Island School of Design before going on to work at M&C Saatchi, C&G Partners, and Base Design, among others. He later freelanced for companies like Apple and IBM before starting his own studio in Brooklyn.
