In this course, you'll learn how to create compelling narrative illustrations. Katty Huertas will teach you how to understand your brief, research the subject matter, and develop captivating concepts.
For the first unit, she will show you how she gets inspired to create editorial illustrations based on articles. Katty will share a little bit about herself, her background and how she got where she is.
Then, you'll go over the tools you’ll use, as well as what the brief for the final project is. You'll also explore different sketching techniques, refine your ideas, and select the best concept for animation. With Katty's guidance, you'll bring your illustrations to life by adding color, texture, and movement using Procreate and Photoshop.
After this, you'll work on conceptualizing ideas, which are the backbone of a good illustration. You’ll come up with thumbnail sketches and will refine some of those to actual sketches.
After all the prep work is done, now you’re ready to finish your illustration. You'll learn how to complete the piece from start to finish, as well as how to animate it. By the end, you'll have the ability to transform any story or article into a visually engaging and meaningful piece of art.
