Realistic Oil Painting: The Color of Plant Life

“This is the end of the course, but perhaps the beginning of your painting adventure. Thank you so much for joining me on this leg of the journey. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Below, I have summarized the essential steps to follow to make your oil vegetation painting. Remember to document the entire work process to be able to see the evolution. My project can serve as inspiration, but it is not about copying it. Rather, I encourage you to experiment and find your own style and pictorial language according to your tastes, interests and references. The referent Choose the theme you want to paint. To do this, go for a walk and take pictures of plants or corners and scenes with vegetation that catch your eye. Try to already have a rough idea of what you are looking for or what you would like to paint, and keep in mind the rules of composition when choosing the image.

The drawing Make the drawing in pencil or tracing and analyze planes, lights and shadows to plan the use of colors and the configuration of the planes of the composition.
The stain Apply the general stain, from dark to light and from the last term to the first, taking into account the tonal value and the chromatic value. Remember that the range of possibilities is infinite and that the brush must be an extension of your emotions and intelligence. There are many types of brush strokes and rubs!
Personal language Develop your pictorial language, doing and undoing. Increase the amount of paint and play with it. Don't forget to pay special attention to the hue! Choose a main sheet, work around it and relate it to the rest of the set.
The final painting Increase the amount of paint again and add your own calligraphy to the paint. Wait for it to dry and varnish the painting correctly. To share your work and present it on social networks, upload a photo to Photoshop and make some adjustments to the image, paying particular attention to contrast and color temperature.
When your project is ready, share it on the forum by clicking on "Create your project". Share both the final painting and the phases of your work, adding images with a brief explanation. Finally, I want to encourage you to participate in the forum: comment on the work of your colleagues, contribute ideas and share your progress and doubts. I will also be there as often as possible to give you advice and answer your questions. See you soon!”
