Eric Castleman
A course by Eric Castleman
Eric Castleman is a children’s book illustrator living in Montana who specializes in traditional painting techniques with digital tools. His interest in illustration started as a child and, having an artist for a brother and a sister interested in crafts, he was always creative growing up. He spent time drawing during school but didn’t consider art as a career until his wife, a painter, bought him a book on how to build a business from his passion.
Since then, Eric has worked for Highlights magazine, and The Monster Project, and has been featured by Kidlit411, Society of Visual Storytelling, and multiple art galleries. He works primarily in mixed media, integrating unique textures and light into his work.

I am loving this process - thumbnail exploration using this technique has been amazing for freeing up my process and not getting stuck. Recommend this course for anyone wanting to develop process.
MUITO BOM O CONTEUDO, E MUDOU MINHA FORMA DE PENSAR ILUSTRAÇÃO TANTO O CURSO COMO A METODOLOGIA DO PROFESSOR É MUITO BOA
Honestly, not great - I did not like the style of illustration so much.
I'm a little ambivalent about the course. I liked the very detailed step-by-step approach that helped to fully understand the process. I did gain some valuable insights. However, I think the result still has quite a digital look in that the colors aren't very varied or have a real brush look so in that respect the course didn't fully meet my expectations. I think the course is very helpful for beginners though as it gives very detailed instructions.
Eric has a great nature for teaching and his kindness and abilities shine through in this delivery of the modules. It was really inspiring to see his process.
